“Hocus-Pocus vs. Science... And My Vote for ‘Person of the Year’”

Yesterday’s “occasional” article, “The Stranger: One Sedra, Two Views/The Stranger: One Election, Two Views,” concerned itself with the strangers who were welcomed by Abraham and Sarah compared to the strangers who came to Sodom and Gomorrah. Those who came to the tent of the patriarch and matriarch brought an unexpected message, that God will be giving the childless couple a son.

That’s one heck of a pregnancy test.

And speaking of “tests” and the incomprehensible – at least to me – statement that “If we didn’t have so much testing, we wouldn’t have as many cases,” make me believe that far too many in this country would have 2+2 equal 5, or who believe that if Columbus hadn’t made his discoveries the world would indeed be flat. I can’t figure that, can you??

How science and Dr. Fauci at the CDC can be demoted to the level of witchcraft, and Dr. Scott Atlas promoted to the level of expert scares me to death. As Albert Einstein wrote, “Science without religion is lame but he also wrote, “Religion without science is blind.” That’s why I cannot understand unmasked fools at mass rallies, and the idiocy of Chasidim in New York and elsewhere who gather for all kinds of purposes not even 6 inches apart, let alone 6 feet! The police had to break up a wedding with 10,000 guests expected to attend!!

We are the ones who made sacred the phrase “CHOOSE LIFE!” uttered by God and found in the Torah, the Book of Deuteronomy, verses we read on the Holydays!

   Health precedes all else!

You must eat on Yom Kippur if the physician tells you to!

How many more references do we/they need?

The world has gone mad, topsy-turvy. I’ll stick to the CDC, not the White House.

And let me add that while TIME magazine usually selects the victor in a presidential election as its Person of the Year, my vote is for Dr. Fauci. The criterion has always been the one who has, for better or worse, had the greatest impact in the past year. Standing up to the misdirected power of the White House with his calm, caring and research-based information, Dr. Fauci should be so recognized…and it would drive “the misdirected power” crazy!
