I’m writing with fury in my heart witnessing what’s going on in Washington. I cannot fathom how people don’t understand how dangerous Trump is, how he cannot be a “loser,” the most derogatory word in his limited vocabulary, and therefore will do anything, anything, to avoid being one. Well, he is a loser in more ways than one.
McConnell delivered a message that was moving, but his focus on the continuity of our democracy should have been sharpened four years ago and onward. As an African-American woman said shortly after his speech – and I’m sorry that I do not recall either her name or her position – McConnell’s message should be broadcast over loudspeakers outside the Capitol, ending with “Go home!”
But wait!
“Don’t Show Up in the First Place!” should have been the message of the president. Oh, I’m sorry…I forgot, he’s the one who egged them on today as he has encouraged them for the past two months! Longer, in fact!
As President-elect Biden said, a president can “inspire or incite.” Well?
The blame is on Trump PERIOD! And while I know some of you, even some in my own family voted for him, perhaps you now see what kind of a person he is, that his niece was 150% correct in her assessment of her uncle as were scores of other mental health experts.
Having rejected the notion of a king by this nation’s founders, kowtowing to one who has always believed himself to be a king stands squarely against our values, and when the kowtowers are senators and representatives who join in the delusion then we know we’re in trouble…deep trouble.
Four years ago, Lindsey Graham, another loser in the long run, said, “If we nominate Trump, we will be destroyed…and we will deserve it.” Graham probably didn’t mean what’s going on in our nation’s capital today, but as one of the worst kowtowers of all, among the most egregious hypocrites, he joins the ranks of the destroyers and should be reminded of that over and over. Those elected officials who are staging this absurd move challenging the Electoral College just to get in line for 2022 and 2024, well, they are destroyers as well.
You might think that these words are not impartial. They are. What sane Republican or Democrat, Conservative, Progressive, would encourage this kind of behavior? And while Trump delivered a request for his followers to leave, his words were not only shallow, but in my opinion, just as, well, filled with the same hostility and malevolence as ever.
With at least his call to Georgia’s Secretary of State pushing him to “find” enough votes to turn the result in his favor, he should be impeached and convicted before January 20th, and then prosecuted for all his other crimes! He swore to uphold the Constitution of the United States. Right.
